Velvet Morning in the North-East

Living on the North-East coast of Britain has it’s ups and it’s downs, particularly if you’re a photographer.

Want to photograph an amazing coastal sunset?

It’s off to the other side of the country for you.

Sunrises however?

You’re bang in luck.

The North-East of England has some of the best beaches and coastal areas in Europe, if not the world, and with our generally always-cloudy skies, it gives photographers a huge opportunity for some colourful and moody sunrise images.

Another Velvet Morning

This image of St. Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay, reminds me of the song Velvet Morning by The Verve (check out the song here)

Yes, I’m coming down

Your beauty is a colour-surround

Into the half-light

Another Velvet Morning for me

Lyrics by Richard Ashcroft

Do yourself a favour – put this song on your I-pod and go and watch the sunrise while listening to it.

You’ll thank me later.
