A Strange sky in the Northeast

A lone tree in silhouette

I’m sure you all saw, or at least heard, about the strange sky over the Northeast of England yesterday (October 16th if you’re reading this in the future…).

To say it was ominous was a complete understatement!

I actually missed most of it as I was in the studio doing post production and attempting to rearrange the thousands of images clogging up my hard-drive.

Which really means I started, got side-tracked and started playing “Game of War” on my phone…

It wasn’t until a phone call from my sister, explaining the “weird-looking sky” to me that I ventured outside of my man-cave to investigate.

The end was nigh.

It was like stepping into a post-apocalyptic world; the entire street was enwrapped in fog and mist, the sky a steely-orange. It was like a cross between David Lynch’s Dune and Will Smith’s I am Legend.

Knowing I had about an hour before I had to pick the kids up from school, I grabbed my gear and raced out to Charlie’s Garden in Seaton Sluice.

I made it just in time to take this image.

David Lynch: this one’s for you…

My thanks go out to the Sahara desert for helping to make this image – I couldn’t have done it without you.

Ciao for now
